Parents of Day Care Students of Mataas na Lupa: Child Development Center sponsored the Seminar on Gender Sensitivity

The Child Development Center of Mataas na Lupa, Indang, Cavite sponsored a Seminar on Gender Sensitivity among parents/guardian of day care students on September 14, 2016 at Brgy. Hall, Mataas na Lupa, Indang, Cavite. The activity was attended by 3 males and 32 females participants.

  

The program started with the message from the Treasurer of the barangay. She mentioned that Gender and Development was one of the topics discussed during their meeting on planning and budgeting and it is good that the parents/guardian of day care students will also have the same activity.   Also,  Ms. Evelyn R. Perlas, Child Development Worker, expressed her appreciation to the support of the parents/guardians who made the said activity possible.

Orientation on Sex and Gender Roles, Agents of Gender Socialization, Gender Issues, and Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 (RA 9262) were provided by Ms. Maria Soledad M. Lising, Chairperson, Department of Economics. A video clip about family relationship and role stereotypes between husband and wife in a family set-up was also presented. One of the participants reacted that once the female children were allowed to play guns, most probably they want to become a police.

Mr. Ferdinand B. Mercurio mentioned on his impression that both men and women should perform their responsibilities to their families to avoid the misunderstanding and eventually leads to separation.

Ms. Evelyn R. Perlas, Child Development Worker, expressed her appreciation to the University, the GAD Focal Point System, and the Department of Economics for extending their services to them and also to the parents who spent time in attending the seminar.
