The Cavite State University (CvSU) Don Severino De Las Alas Campus, through the National Coffee Research, Development and Extension Center (NCRDEC) will play host to this year's 2nd National Coffee Education Congress (NCEC) with the theme: "Unifying Industry Initiatives Toward Sustainability of Philippine Coffee" from December 3 to 5.

CvSU President Dr. Hernando D. Robles will officially welcome some 200 participants consisting of researchers, stakeholders and exhibitors from various Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and partner agencies in the country.

In an interview with Engr. Gerry M. Castillo, NCRDEC Director, the Congress is aimed to converge research and extension initiatives of all coffee stakeholders, which are contributory to the development of the Philippine coffee industry.

The 3-day event will also include plenary sessions, research and extension paper and poster presentations, coffee cupping competition, barista competition, exhibits, meeting of PhilCoffeeNet members, National Coffee DocuFest, coffee educational tour, launching of the book cover and call for nominees “8 Outstanding Coffee Personalities in the Philippines,” launching of the project “1 Million Cups of Coffee to Success,” among others. Cash prizes are at stake for winners in different competitions.

It was in November 2017 when CvSU hosted the 1st NCEC as well as the 1st Southeast Asian Coffee Education Congress (SEACEC) in October 2018.
