Highlighting the internationalization initiatives of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in language education, Cavite State University won third Best Higher Education Institution (HEI) as Commission on Higher Education Region IVA celebrates 2021 ASEAN Month this August.

Anchored on the theme “We Care. We Prepare. We Prosper”, CvSU’s video entry focused on creating impact to the global community through language and multicultural programs offered by the Language Study Center under CAS. These include: 1) Intensive English Proficiency Course with 50 Taiwanese students from National Penghu University in 2019; 2) SWAP SHOP 2019 that capacitate foreign language teachers in various research-based and gender-sensitive methodologies; 3) SWAP SHOP 2021, a webinar series with international speakers sharing insights and tips in facilitating virtual classes; and 4) online Filipino101 Class for foreigners that catered to international students from CvSU, India and some Fulbright scholars. CvSU students, taking part as language buddies of some students from the University of Michigan and presenters in the Filipino language table of the Southeast Asian Club at Northern Illinois University, also became part of the presentation in addition to some collaborations through faculty scholarships, research, and internships abroad.

Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas bagged the first prize while LPU-Cavite placed second. Meanwhile, Southern Luzon State University and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta-Molino campus also made it to the Top 5 of the competition.
