FORUM ON ANTI –VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
In response to the call of the national government to promote gender equality in the workplace, the Gender and Development Focal Point System held a Forum on Anti-Violence Against Women on February 11, 2016 at the University Gymnasium, Cavite State University.
The forum aimed to promote awareness on Anti-Violence Against Women and to identify measures to respond to the needs of victims of abuses.
Dr. Hernando D. Robles, VP for Administrative and Support Services discusses Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995 (RA 7877) while SPO2 Vivian Bernas, Chief, Women and Children Protection Center presents the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004 (RA 9262). Mr. Dionisio B. Dalusong, Chief- Institutional Development Division, DSWD Field Office IV-A provides Orientation on Men Opposed Violence Against Women Everywhere (MOVE).
Among the issues raised during the forum were:
- What are the laws that protect the LGBT community?
- How to create an organization on MOVE in CvSU?
- If the wife was beaten by her husband, is citizens arrest allowed?
- What are the steps in handling cases on Anti-Violence Against Women?
The forum was attended by 125 females and 66 males or a total of 191 faculty members and non-academic personnel of the Cavite State University and police officers. (SMRom)
