CvSU Gender and Development Resource Center staff participated in the Provincial Women’s Summit conducted by The Provincial Government of Cavite through its Cavite Gender and Development Focal Point System (CGFPS) on November 25, 2019 at Provincial Gymnasium, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The activity was attended by women’s organizations, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Benificfiaries, LGUs, barangay health workers, uniformed personnel of PNP, the academe and employees of the provincial government.

In his opening message, Mr. Alvin Mojica, Provincial Administrator for Community Affairs, mentioned that he hopes that the event will be fruitful. Meanwhile, Hon. Irene Bencito, Executive Assistant and former Board Member recognized the efforts done by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of the Cavite GAD Focal Point System in facilitating the activity. She also stressed that the fight of women’s right is also a fight of men since it protects the rights of their mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters.

Hon. Lorna Sarabia Toledo, Tagaytay City Councilor, delivered the message of Mayor Agnes Tolentino emphasizing the important roles and influence of women in the development and the impact of this kind of opportunity to empowered women.

Topics discussed during the summit were: Provincial Gender and Development Code by Ms. Mylene Sotolombo, Local Legislative staff Officer II; Alternative Learning System (ALS): An Instrument for Providing Lifelong Skills by Ms. Felisa C. Matel, Education Program Specialist; Magna Carta of Women by PLTCOL Atty. Arvie Paraon-Bueno of Cavite Provincial Police Office; and Programs provided by TESDA by Ms. Jenelyn Dino.

Dr. Susan Tan, GAD Chair for Extension of CvSU, facilitated the Talk Show with the speakers. Questions raised deal with the best practices on mainstreaming GAD in the PNP, the ration of male and female beneficiaries of ALS, and the success rate of trainer in TESDA.

Except for the additional information about the women’s rights and opportunities, the summit also pampered the participants by providing beauty and wellness services and medical and dental check up.
