The pandemic that has gripped the country in the past months has not only changed the way we look at things and at people, but also the manner we respond to unexpected circumstances. We may think and act differently but at the end of the day, we will realize that we would rather do something that matters, something that can make a difference in other people’s lives, however small that act may be. This has inspired the whole community of Cavite State University Bacoor City Campus to help ease the struggles and hardships individuals and families experience as they face the crisis that is COVID-19.
The campus has successfully implemented four projects in March as it tried to combat the spread of coronavirus and mitigate its effect on the lives of the most vulnerable groups within the community.
More than 200 copies of flyers and leaflets of an infographic about cleaning and disinfecting using chlorine/water and saline solutions were distributed to nearby establishments and residences. CvSU Bacoor employees and students helped in the dissemination to the general public through social media, particularly via Facebook.
Relief packs were also provided to 17 stranded students residing near the campus assuring the students that they are not alone in their battle against COVID-19. A free layout/photo editing service was also offered to the 65 members of the Barangay Mambog IV COVID-19 quarantine team for the production of their IDs. Finally, 16 sets of Zonrox-water solutions and salt were distributed to selected residents in Perpetual Village 6 in Mambog IV.
They say that the most beautiful things in life are not seen but felt by the heart. But if we can see the joy in the eyes of those who have received our small acts of kindness, then happiness takes on a different meaning. We fight COVID-19 as one. We heal as one. (MLLamanilao)
