The Department of Health (DOH) CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo assured Cavite State University (CvSU) of his support and assistance as the University sets to establish a College of Medicine and offer Doctor of Medicine program in August of this year. Dr. Janairo believes that medical schools are very important to sustain human resource because “doctors are necessities, they should not be demanded. They should be present always”.

During the collaborative meeting between CvSU and DOH provincial and regional officials, Dr. Janairo shared the landscape and development plans related to medical and health care services in CALABARZON and is confident that the establishment of a College of Medicine in CvSU will help fill in the gaps in human resource particularly those providing medical services for the 16.4 million people in the region. Meanwhile, Cavite Provincial Health Officer Dr. Nelson C. Soriano, emphasized the importance of the inclusion of public/community health in the curriculum.

For the part of the CvSU administration, Dr. Hernando D. Robles is keen on mobilizing resources to establish a Level III base hospital in the soonest time possible.

The CvSU College of Medicine aims to produce medical pluralist graduates with diverse knowledge and skills in providing health care to the community as well as professional physicians and ethical researchers with deep sense of duty and service.

Serafica   Meanwhile, CvSU officials who attended the meeting were Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro (VP, Academic Affairs), Dr. Camilo A. Polinga (VP, Admin and Support Services), Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac (VP, Research and Extension), Leyma L. Cero (VP, Planning and Development), dean of the College of Nursing Dr. Evelyn M. Del Mundo, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Dr. Bettina Joyce P. Ilagan, director of the International and Local Collaboration and Linkages Prof. Maria Soledad M. Lising, Dr. Annie M. Ramos, and Dr. Bernadette A. Sapinoso.
