Student delegates from Cavite State University (CvSU) – Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering brought home awards in the recently concluded PAEStigan X: The State Colleges and Universities National PAES Quiz Contest at the DL Umali Hall, University of the Philippines Los Baños, February 23-24.
CvSU Team 1 composed of Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) students Charlene Tanuyan, Cjhaye Ron Costa, and Antessa Santillan won first runner-up in the PAEStigan Quiz Contest, with P30,000 cash prize and trophy. The team from Visayas State University – Baybay was hailed as the Quiz Contest champions, while Mindoro State University placed second runner up.
Meanwhile, John Bryan Alcantara, Angelyn Carandang, and Glennard Arcena of CvSU Team 2 placed eighth.
BSABE students Paola Mae Agulan and Naisy Ann Regla secured the fourth spot in the QGIS Challenge and the Engine and Machinery Parts Identification, respectively; Anthony Joshua Domingo and Hesed Feranil placed seventh in Tractor Driving and Hitching; and Juan Carlos Ruiz also participated in the event’s AutoCAD Challenge.
A total of 41 participating state universities and colleges comprising biosystems and agricultural engineering students and professionals gathered for PAEStigan’s 10th edition with the theme “Fostering Xcellence to Future Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers towards Food Resiliency and Sovereignty.”
Organized by the UP Society of Agricultural Engineering Students, PAEStigan highlights the above-mentioned contests, with guided tour, product exhibition, symposium, among other activities. (with report and photo from the Department of Agriculture and Food Engineering)
