The Cavite State University (CvSU), through its Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC), facilitated the “Workshop on the Preparation of 2024 Gender and Development (GAD) Accomplishment Report” from January 8-9, 2025, at the Babaylan Training Room.
This event brought together GAD Coordinators, GAD Alternates, and CvSU MOVE KATROPA (Men Opposed to Violence Against Women Everywhere – Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya) officers to strengthen their skills in preparing comprehensive GAD Accomplishment Reports (ARs).
In his opening remarks, Dr. Melbourne R. Talactac, Vice President for Research and Extension, emphasized the collective efforts of the CvSU community in advancing gender equality.
The workshop, facilitated by Dr. Renifer R. Francisco, a member of the National GAD Resource Pool, highlighted critical updates to GAD planning and budgeting in line with the PCW-DBM-NEDA Joint Memorandum Circular 2022-01. Dr. Francisco provided a step-by-step guide for completing GAD ARs, addressing challenges such as salary attributions and cost calculations. She underscored that unplanned yet relevant GAD activities could be included in the reports if aligned with the institution’s GAD mandates.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions to draft their reports, presenting and refining their outputs with expert guidance. On the second day, they received constructive feedback to enhance their submissions. Dr. Francisco also discussed audit considerations, emphasizing that GAD activities must constitute at least 5% of an agency’s total appropriations.
In her closing message, Dr. Susan G. Tan, GADRC Director, reminded participants that true GAD advocacy comes from the heart. She assured them of the Center’s unwavering support in addressing challenges and fostering impactful initiatives.
The two-day workshop concluded with renewed commitment from CvSU’s GAD advocates to advance gender-responsive development, ensuring a more inclusive future for all.
