The Cavite State University (CvSU), through its Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC), with strong commitment to promote gender equality and inclusivity recently conducted the CvSU’s Women’s Month Kick-off Ceremony on March 3, 2025, at the University Quadrangle.
This year’s celebration also marks a significant mark to the university as we also welcome the second female university president in the history of the university . Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro University President, officially commenced the event through an opening message where she emphasized that “These initiatives directly support the goals of the Magna Carta of Women, ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities for all women. We believe that empowering women is not just a moral imperative, but a crucial step towards building a more just, prosperous, and equitable society.”
“I encourage everyone to actively participate in these events and to reflect on the significance of gender equality throughout the month. Let us work together to create a world where every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. Mabuhay ang kababaihan!,” Dr. Nuestro added.
The event “EmpowerHer: The Genre Remix Challenge” was actively participated by the following: CCAT Campus; Carmona Campus; College of Arts and Sciences (CAS); College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources; College of Engineering and Information Technology; and Cavite City Campus.
The participants showcased their talents by giving a new rendition of “Juana,” CvSU’s official advocacy song for Women’s Month. CCAT Campus was hailed as the champion, followed by Carmona Campus and CAS in second and third place, respectively.
Dr. Pia Rhoda P. Lucero, OIC Director of the Institutional Development Office; Ms. Sharon M. Isip (OIC Dean, Office of the Student Affairs and Services; and Prof. Jonell V. Ocampo, Faculty Member from CvSU Carmona Campus served as the judges.
Afterwards, the GADRC, in collaboration with the Public Affairs and Communications Office, officially launched the “Juana” advocacy song which aims to uplift women in different sectors with the vision to share the GAD advocacy to more people and across all media users.
The kick-off ceremony successfully concluded through a closing message delivered by Dr. Ma. Cynthia R. Dela Cruz, OIC Director, GADRC, wherein she urged everyone “to envision a world where women are not just celebrated on one day but uplifted every single day. Together, let us continue to pave the way for a brighter future, where equality reigns and every woman in the Philippines can thrive.”
The kick-off ceremony was attended by the members of the Administrative Council, faculty and staff, and students of the university. Ms. Betsy Rose S. Fidel (GAD Coordinator) and Mr. King David J. Agreda, (CvSU MOVE KATROPA President, NGRP) served as the moderator of the said event.
