Cavite State University (CvSU) colleges and satellite campuses gathered for a week-long showcase of athletic excellence in this year’s University Games, May 19-23, at the Main Campus in Indang, Cavite. 

Themed “SPORTS: Sustaining Excellence through Strength, Perseverance, Opportunity, Respect, Teamwork, and Success,” CvSU athletes battled it out in archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball (3×3 and 5×5), beach volleyball, billiards, chess, dance sports, eSports (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang), football, futsal, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and volleyball. 

On behalf of Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairperson Richard E. Bachmann, PSC Commissioner Walter Francis K. Torres addressed the opening ceremony crowd composed of athletes, coaches, students, employees, and officials from 22 participating colleges and satellite campuses of CvSU. 

“The University Games is more than just a competition. This will be a celebration of collective strength, talent, and character. As you all compete, you also unite as one Cavite State University community committed to integrity, driven by excellence, and ready to shine both on and off the field,” Chairperson Bachmann said in a speech delivered by Commissioner Torres. 

For the final medal count, the CvSU CCAT Pistons clinched back-to-back University Games overall championship titles after bagging 59 gold, 20 silver, and 22 bronze medals. 

Closely following in second place are the College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Warriors with a total of 58 gold, 86 silver, and 51 bronze medals; the CvSU Imus Heroes at third place with 47 gold, 54 silver, and 38 bronze medals; and the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Ravens at fourth place with 35 gold, 10 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

After this year’s co-hosting by the College of Education and CvSU Tanza Campus, the College of Arts and Sciences and CvSU Naic Campus will host the 2026 University Games.
