Cavite State University (CvSU) and Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IV- CALABARZON (DA RFO IV-CALABARZON) – Cavite Agricultural Research and Experiment Station (CARES) led the groundbreaking ceremony for the development and operation of an integrated Techno Demo Farm at the CvSU STAR Farm in Indang, Cavite, May 21.

The groundbreaking event was graced by officials and representatives from CvSU; DA; DA – CARES; Bureau of Plant Industry; Bureau of Agricultural Research; Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development; Provincial Agricultural Research and Experiment Stations; Office of the Provincial Agriculturist-Cavite; Municipal Agriculture Office of Indang; Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council; and multipurpose cooperatives.

This partnership with DA RFO IV-CALABARZON is in line with CvSU’s mandate to conduct research and extension services, and provide progressive leadership in the areas of agriculture, science and technology, education, and other related fields. 

Through this initiative, the University also supports DA RFO IV-CALABARZON’s commitment to enhance the farmers’ competitive edge by providing “modern technologies and up-to-date business information by searching, testing, innovation, improving, and demonstrating new and better technologies in production, post-harvest, processing, and value-adding.”

For this project, both parties will collaborate through knowledge and resource sharing, and implement various programs and activities aimed at promoting and establishing sustainable farming technologies and agribusinesses. These include conduct of instruction, research, development, extension, and monitoring and evaluation of the activities, policies, and technologies related to the project, among others. 

CvSU will provide 1.3 hectares of land, as well as other agriculture facilities, resources, technology, manpower, and capabilities for the development and operations of the Techno Demo Farm.
