Cavite State University, through its Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC), successfully concluded the two-day workshop titled “Strengthening GAD: Mainstreaming Gender-Responsive Approaches in Extension and Infrastructure Programs,” July 28-29, 2025 at the CvSU GADRC Babaylan Training Room.

The workshop convened Extension Coordinators from various colleges, campuses, and units to build their capacity in integrating gender perspectives into their respective programs, projects and activities.

Mr. King David J. Agreda (NGRP Batch 9 and CvSU MOVE KATROPA president) served as the resource speaker and emphasized the use of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) Tool as a strategic instrument in planning and implementing gender-responsive extension initiatives.

Dr. Racquel G. Agustin, Director of Extension Services, delivered the opening message, encouraging participants to actively engage and apply gender-responsive principles in their extension initiatives.

The first day of training workshop concluded with a closing message from Mr. Joselito F. Ersando, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division of Extension Services, who reiterated the significance of embedding a gender lens in the design of inclusive and impactful development programs.

During the second whole day session, Engr. Orlando B. Delos Reyes, Director of the Project Management Office, delivered his opening remarks where he mentioned the significant use of HGDG in the various infrastructure and university operations, attributing it to the allocated budget.

Mr. Agreda also emphasized the use of the HGDG checklist on infrastructure. During the session, he facilitated the same approach of activity given on the first day but utilizing the sector-specific checklist of HGDG. He discussed how to properly score the infrastructure using HGDG, and reviewed the participants’ outputs and score based on the HGDG sector- specific checklist.

To formally conclude the second day of the training, Engr. Lordley Abellar delivered the closing remarks on behalf of Engr. Gerry M. Castillo, Director of Planning Office. He mentioned how valuable the training was to comply and apply this relevant training to the projects and university operation.
