To start the year right, members of the administrative council conducted a year-end review and operational planning workshop, 7 – 9 January. The three-day activity kicked off at the main campus and resumed at Crown Legacy Hotel in Baguio City.
University President Dr. Hernando D. Robles, in his presentation looked back on the accomplishments of his administration since he took office in 2016 that led to the crafting of the Strategic Development Plan (2016-2022), anchored on the Regional Development Plan (2017-2022), CHED Development Plan (2017-2022), and AMBISYON Natin 2040.
Dr. Leyma L. Cero, VP for Planning and Development, explained the levelling of expectations and the planning process, while Engr. Renato B. Cubilla, director for planning, presented the FY 2018 physical targets and accomplishments. Stakeholders like the Magsasaka Siyentista, representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU), and police officers from Indang Municipal Police Station were invited to take part in this noteworthy happening.
The four major programs under the General Appropriations Act (GAA), as mandated for state universities and colleges were also presented. Dr. Camilo A. Polinga, VP for Academic Affairs, presented the higher education program that includes enrollment, foreign students, program accreditation, graduates, performance in the licensure examinations, and student and faculty development. Likewise, Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro, dean of the Graduate School, presented the advanced education program covering enrollment, foreign students, program accreditation, and graduates. The research program focusing on the on-going and completed studies, research grants, paper presentations, publications, and patent applications and the technical advisory extension program covering active linkages, trainings conducted and others were both presented by Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, VP for Research and Extension.
Other areas of concern were presented such as general administration and support services by Dr. Henry O. Garcia, VP for Administrative and Support Services; support to operation (Quality Management System) by Dr. Leyma L. Cero; and business operations by Mr. Guillermo P. Desenganio, director for business affairs. Inputs for the FY 2019 operational plan concluded the first day of the activity.
The event continued in Baguio City with target setting, workshop as well as presentation and critiquing of outputs. The last day was a short visit at Benguet State University, exchanging the best practices of both Level IV state universities in SUC levelling.
