On April 12, 2019, CvSU Gender and Development Resource Center conducted a Seminar on Community First Aid and Basic Life Support among members of Indang Association of Persons with Disability, Inc at the Persons with Disability Affairs Office, Poblacion IV, Indang, Cavite.
Ms. Jamaica Rose Cerrero, instructor from the College of Nursing and an Accredited First Aider of Red Cross, discussed the roles and responsibilities of a first aider. She emphasized that the objectives of first aid is to alleviate suffering, prevent added/further injury or danger, and prolong life. Ms. Cerrero also showed the suggested contents of a first aid kit and discussed the use and functions of each items. With the help of the participants, She also demonstrated the different styles in carrying/assisting an injured patient.
Mr. Romulo Telmo, vice president of IAPWDI, mentioned in his closing remarks that the seminar imparted an important knowledge that they can apply not only to themselves but also to the members of the community.
