The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region IV-A collaborated with Cavite State University, particularly the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)– Department of Languages and Mass Communication, for the implementation of its capstone project in Cavite.

Entitled “Co-creating Disaster Preparedness Communication as an Approach to Enhancing Community Resiliency”, the project aims to develop a participatory process of creating disaster preparedness communication materials and to enhance the capability of two barangays in developing the said materials and publishing them on their respective Facebook pages.

The project is headed by Ms. Charmaine R. Lopez and coordinated with Dr. Bettina Joyce P. Ilagan, dean of CAS and Ms. Kimmi Dane N. Jimenez, Extension Coordinator for BA Journalism.

As one of the Local Resource Institute (LRI) partners of DILG IV-A, Journalism faculty members participated in the series of workshops with officials and selected community members of Brgy. Panapaan V in Bacoor and Brgy Mediccion II-D in Imus, Cavite. They shared their Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan with the team and received insights on how to better connect to the residents through posts on their official Facebook pages.
