In its to pursuit to boost the internationalization of its program offerings, Cavite State University entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Educational Cooperation with the University of Central Missouri (UCM). The actual signing of the MOU by Dr. Philip Bridgmon, Provost and Chief Learning Officer of UCM, happened on 18 February while the ceremonial virtual MOU signing of the document was on 03 March 2021.
According to CvSU President Dr. Hernando D. Robles, the partnership envisions to provide educational opportunities between the two institutions on undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking programs; short- and long-term faculty exchange; collaborative research and discovery learning; and teaching and other mutually-agreed upon educational research. UCM agreed to offer a non-resident scholarship to degree-seeking applicants from CvSU who will be able fulfill the admission requirements.
During the brief virtual program, Atty. Lily Freida M. Milla, Director of CHED – International Affairs Staff Office, asserted that this partnership would enrich the programs of each institution with diversity and quality standards and also further empowered CvSU to continue enhancing their activities and programs despite the pandemic.
Meanwhile, US Cultural Affairs Officer to the Philippines Matthew Keener acknowledged CvSU as “a wonderful partner of Education USA Philippines dating few years back, proactively seeking out partnerships and taking advantage of the downtime and the new virtual interaction world to deepen partnerships, continue to collaborate, and find ways to create educational opportunities”. He also reiterated EdUSA Philippines’ utmost support to all other institutions that would like to explore educational linkages with universities in the United States.

UCM’s International Recruitment Officer, Ruben Ricardo Month shared that this new chapter between institutions is a great opportunity to celebrate as it coincides with the 150th anniversary of UCM.
