A three-day training of trainers was conducted from March 15 to 17, 2022 for all GAD Coordinators and Officers of the CvSU Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere and  Kalalakihang Tapat sa Responsibilidad at Obligasyon sa Pamilya (MOVE KATROPA) to refresh the participants in the basic principles of Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusions (GEDSI) and how to become an effective GAD trainer and at the same time, help to improve their skills in planning a gender sensitive presentation and how to deliver it with confidence and conviction.

Dr. Hernando D. Robles, University President made the introductory remarks. He expressed a hearty welcome to all the participants of the training program notably to the resource speakers. He urged attendees to take advantage of the program so that they may successfully incorporate Gender, Equality, Diversity, and Social Inclusions (GEDSI) into training materials, communication materials, and other knowledge products.

Ms. Racquel Agustin, a faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) spoke on the advantages and disadvantages of communication, as well as the various communication styles. Meanwhile, Mr. Bernard S. Feranil, also from CAS, talked about effective oral communication and also highlighted its necessity. He spoke on myths and mistakes in technical presentations and outlined the twelve elements of good oral communication and gave a vocabulary development practice to the participants.

On the second day, Dr. Excelsa C. Tonson, Deputy Director for Training and Outreach Center for Women and Gender Studies, University of the Philippines (UP) spoke on GEDSI Basic Concepts and conducted a group activity identifying the GEDSI policies that can be found under instruction, research, and extension. Ms. Maritess Cruz, Founder, Feminist Media Lab talked about gender-responsive and inclusive communication materials-how to make use of them. She spoke about the politics of representation and discussed the ways to deal with gender issues. A group activity was carried out to identify sexist preconceptions and why they become an issue, as well as assumptions manifested in their communication materials.

On the third day, Dr. Carolyn I. Sobritchea, President, UP Center for Women’s Studies Foundation, Inc discussed planning and delivering gender-responsive and inclusive programs and services. Afterwards, a group activity was conducted that aims to improve their present GAD Plan based on the findings of the GEDSI training.

Ms. Raecel A. Estebat, Officer-In-Charge, GADRC, delivered the closing remarks and served as moderator for this activity with a total of 19 participants. (MCPSioco)
