In celebration of 116 years of being truthful and excellent in service, Cavite State University held its founding anniversary by honoring the legacy of Don Severino Delas Alas, recognizing the loyalty of CvSU employees, and marking its new milestone.

A wreath-laying ceremony, attended by the members of the Administrative Council and the heirs of Don Severino Delas Alas, was held at the monument of the late Don Severino in honor and commemoration of his great contributions to the community. One of the great-great-grandchildren of Don Severino, Ms. Annalie Delas Alas De Castro, commended CvSU for progressive education even during the pandemic and stated that they are thankful to the institution for utilizing the gift of their great-great-grandfather to the community up until today.

In gratitude of more than a hundred years of existence, an ecumenical thanksgiving service was held led by Rev. Arman O. Mendoza, Rev. Fr. Samuel D. Lubrica, and Rev. Daniel Francisco at the CvSU-International Convention Center (ICON). This was followed by the recognition program,  with the theme  “Katatagan sa Gitna ng Pandemya”, honoring  the men and women of the institution who served students and the community in accordance with its tenets through their years of service.

The message of the University President Dr. Hernando D. Robles was delivered by Dr. Marilyn M. Escobar, VP for Planning and Development. Dr. Robles recognized the valuable contributions of the service awardees and retirees to the university and to quality government service even during the ongoing health crisis. He thanked them for showcasing their competent and just service and mentioned that loyal and dedicated employees like them are truly the foundation of any successful institution.

On the other hand, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner and Chairman of the CvSU Board of Regents, Dr. Marita R. Canapi, in her keynote message, recognized the resiliency, selflessness, and commitment to excellence and quality of the service awardees for the benefit of students and community. She honored them as ‘true heroes’ of the university and ‘tough people’ who are always ready to be of help and build the quality of life of the people with excellence, commitment, and dedication. Dr. Canapi lauded CvSU as well for being one of the best schools in Region IV-A and in the country through the resiliency and contribution of these individuals who served the institution for years.

The University took pride in showcasing and presenting a total of 80 hardworking and resilient academic and non-academic employees from 2021 awarded with plaques and certificates of recognition. A tribute was also paid to service awardees and retirees from 2020 through an audio-visual presentation (AVP).

The 116th founding anniversary of the University was not just about remembrance and recognition. It also marked the start of another milestone in the healthcare and medical field  through the groundbreaking ceremonies of the College of Medicine and University Hospital buildings with Department of Health (DOH) CALABARZON Regional Director Dr. Ariel Valencia and OIC-Director of the Health Human Resource Development Bureau (HHRDB) Dr. Pretchell P. Tolentino as the guests. University Vice Presidents: Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro, Dr. Camilo A. Polinga; Dr. Escobar; and Dr. Miriam D. Baltazar (OIC-VP for Research and Extension) alongside College of Medicine Dean Dr. Eleanor J. Galvez and Health Services Directors Dr. Romeo Sanchez led the said activity.

Moreover, the blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremonies of the newly built College of Criminal Justice (CCJ), Graduate School, CvSU Radio Station, Interdisciplinary Research Building, and newly renovated Gabaldon Building which were led by Dr. Polinga and Dr. Nuestro are indicative of the University’s continuous efforts to deliver quality instruction, research, and extension.
