Cavite State University (CvSU) Carmona Campus Administrator Dr. Cristina M. Signo completed the Training on Internal Quality Assurance (TrainIQA) in Southeast Asia (SEA) 2022-2023.

Dr. Signo is among the 30 participants from ASEAN universities who qualified in the TrainIQA ASEAN-Quality Assurance (QA) after going through a competitive selection process in 2022.

TrainIQA is a capacity building project of the German Academic Exchange Service/Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, the German Reactors’ Conference, and the University of Potsdam in cooperation with partner institutions the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network, the ASEAN University Network, and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development.

As part of the Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies program, TrainIQA aims to strengthen higher education management structures in developing countries. It also provides a venue for participants to improve their capacities in the field of QA, and promotes knowledge-sharing and lesson-learning among member HEIs and various stakeholders.

QA officers have implemented QA projects and completed a workshop in Potsdam, Germany since the December 2022 opening conference held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The third and last workshop for the ASEAN-QA program was held before the final conference themed “Developing Higher Education and Addressing External Challenges: The Role of University Management” in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 5-6, bringing together all trainees, university leaders, and the ASEAN and European project partners and experts.

The closing conference covered sessions and panel discussions on the trends and needs in QA in SEA, the key challenges and lessons learnt from the projects, artificial intelligence and higher education, and the challenges of curriculum development with multiple societal needs and external pressures.

CvSU President Dr. Hernando D. Robles and Public Affairs and Communications Office Director Prof. Adora Joy T. Plete joined Dr. Signo in the TrainIQA final conference in support of her output presentation, and to share the University’s best practices, achievements, and innovations in quality assurance.
