The best of Cavite State University (CvSU)’s creative and performing artists showcased their wit and talents in the 7th Southern Tagalog Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges – Culture and Arts Festival (STRASUC – CAF), October 16-20, at Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro. 

With the theme “Pag-usahon para sa Sining: A Celebration of Multiculturalism,” this year’s CAF delegation from CvSU capped fourth place overall with two golds, two silvers, and one bronze after competing with their Southern Tagalog counterparts in various events under the visual arts, musical arts, and performing arts categories; and the Festival King and Queen 2023.

Bringing home the gold medals for CvSU were Kian Joy Guarin in Pop Solo and Charles Cresino in Charcoal Rendering, both from the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT).

Meanwhile, CvSU Festival King Kian Damiel Velasco of CvSU Trece Martires City Campus and the Student Artisté Society were runners up in the Festival King and Queen 2023 and Short and Sweet Play, respectively.

CEIT’s Jessie Binalla placed third in Pencil Drawing, while CvSU Silang Campus ranked fourth in Radio Drama.

Czarina Angelin Antonio and Russel Simon Roxas from CEIT, and Sofia Yesha Napoles from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) secured fourth place in Vocal Duet and Kundiman, respectively. 

Lastly, bagging the fifth place were CASkaseros from CAS in Live Band, Student Artisté Society in Contemporary Dance, and Desiree Ann Sta. Ana of CvSU Imus in instrument solo (violin). 

Finishing on the podium are Batangas State University – The National Engineering University as this year’s overall champion, followed by Southern Luzon State University and Palawan State University. 

Other SUCs who participated in the 7th STRASUC – CAF include Laguna State Polytechnic University, Marinduque State College, Mindoro State University, OMSC, Romblon State University, University of Rizal System, University of the Philippines – Los Baños, and Western Philippines University.
