The Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) of Cavite State University (CvSU) conducted an “Orientation on Gender and Development Planning and Budgeting for State Universities and Colleges,” April 02, 2024, at the CvSU International Convention Center.

This activity gathered the University’s Budget Officers, GAD Coordinators, and members of the Administrative Council. Mr. King David J. Agreda and Ms. Arlene L. Estrada were the hosts of the event.

University President Dr. Hernando D. Robles delivered an inspiring opening message where he shared articles and research focused on women and discrimination, highlighting the critical challenges surrounding gender and development. His message underscored the importance of ongoing dialogues and actions to address these pressing concerns.

Ms. Ellaine E. Todoc, Training Coordinator of GADRC, outlined the key reasons and goals for the gathering.

Mr. Patrick James G. Putungan, the Head of the GAD Technical Working Group (TWG),  started the talk by recognizing the University’s vision of being a gender-responsive educational institution where all stakeholders share equal responsibilities.

Mr. Putungan discussed the essential policies, requirements, and procedures related to GAD planning and budgeting, highlighting the critical elements and practical applications of GAD initiatives. In addition, the speaker also tackled topics such as Essential Elements in GBP, General Guidelines in GBP, Steps in Formulating GBP, and Costing and Allocation of the GAD Budget supported. He also detailed the types of programs and projects that can be attributed to the GAD budget, providing practical examples and concrete guidelines.

Following the presentation and open forum is a workshop focused on developing GAD Plan and Budget where participants shared the proposed or ongoing GAD activities of their respective college/campus/office.

On behalf of Mr. John Xavier Nepomuceno, Vice President for Administrative and Support Services, Ms. Asuncion Reyes, Director of Finance Management Office, extended their heartfelt gratitude towards the speakers, participants, and organizers for the discussions and shared concerns that added an immense value to the deliberations on budget and planning.
