The local government unit (LGU) of Trece Martires City conducted a seminar-workshop on GAD Planning and Budgeting on November 24-27, 2022, at Coron Soleil Garden Resort in Coron, Palawan, attended by 22 males and 28 females.

City Administrator, Atty. Ma. Jeanette Tolentino delivered the opening message and expressed her gratitude to CvSU-GAD Resource Center for facilitating an insightful conversation about building capacity for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Honorable Mayor Gemma Buendia-Lubigan delivered a special message in which she explained that the objective of this exercise was to include elements of GAD in their vision and objectives for the City of Trece Martires.

On the first day of the workshop, Ms. Arlene Llanto-Estrada, GAD Coordinator and faculty member of Trece Martires City Campus, discussed GAD issues and concerns, as well as gender mainstreaming. She emphasized that gender mainstreaming requires a team effort and no one should be left behind, she also added that monitoring is the key to a progressive GAD.

On the second day, Mr. King David Javier Agreda, GAD Coordinator and faculty member of the Cavite City Campus, expressed his appreciation to the LGU TMC for incorporating GAD components into their offices. Mr. Agreda drew attention to the LGU TMC’s absence of a GAD database. “Change cannot be accomplished without efforts,” he said, adding that their goals must be in line with the current gender concerns.
