Outstanding Cavite State University researchers and extensionists reaped awards in separate research and extension symposia held on November 28-29.
Dr. Almira G. Magcawas secured the second place in the Search for Outstanding in Extension Practitioner Award, and Dr. Racquel G. Agustin won third place in the Search for Outstanding in Extension Research Paper Award during the 2023 PhilEASnet Virtual Extension Symposium and General Assembly held via Zoom.
With the theme “Enhancing rural development through digital extension and advisory services,” the extension symposium was organized by the Philippine Extension and Advisory Services Network Inc. in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), Agricultural Training Institute, Department of Agriculture (DA)-Philippine Rice Research Institute, and DA-Philippine Carabao Center.
Meanwhile, CvSU researchers also brought home awards during the 1st Southern Tagalog Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (STCIEERD) Research Summit at Batangas State University in Batangas City, with the theme “Harnessing the Power of Emerging Technologies for Economic Growth and Social Impact.”
Ross John M. Arendela, Robert Allen I. Ebora, Joseph Louis Michael C. Ramos, and Dr. Erwin R. Arboleda from the College of Engineering and Information Technology won the Best Paper for their bee research titled “IoT Stingless Bee Colony Monitoring System.”
The Best Poster Award was given to the research titled “Activated Carbon from Sugar Palm (Arenga pinnata) Waste Product” by Engr. Sheryl Dinglasan Fenol, Lorenzo Lapitan Jr., Jhon B. Laurence Herrera, Daeniel Zarene P. Mojica, and Joven Charles C. Marasigan and Luigi Punongbayan (layout artists).
Finally, Engr. Gee Jay C. Bartolome bagged the Best Presenter Award for his presentation on the “Assessment of the On-road Performance of HEVs and EVs in Urban Road Conditions in the Philippines.”
